Manchester United are confident they will land England captain, Harry Kane, if Tottenham Hotspur fail to land a spot for next season’s Champions League
Erik ten Haag could get a choice striker soon |
The Sun reports that Manchester United transfer chiefs believe that if Tottenham fail to secure Champions League football, Harry Kane would be less likely to sign a new contract and United could be poised to sign the English international for a fee lesser than Spurs’ current £100million valuation.
Manchester United currently sit third on the log with a game in hand and are favourites to secure a Champions League spot, a feat which would boost their bargaining power in the coming summer transfer window.

Kane, 29, is on a £200,000-a-week contract, which will expire in the summer, at Tottenham. And there are speculations since last summer concerning his future with Manchester United seeming the most probable destination for him due to their apparent lack of renowned striker.
The Mancunians have already made contacts with the player via a third party and are confident with the response they received.
Harry Kane’s next destination could be Greater Manchester |
In January, Kane said that there hasn't been too many discussions about his contract extension at Spurs even after accomplishing his goal of becoming their all-time top scorer.
And with Manchester United’s recent Carabao Cup and development under Erik ten Haag, Harry Kane could be tempted with the promise of major silverware (an achievement that has so far eluded him at Tottenham). So even though United were thrashed 7-0 at Anfield on Sunday, they are still a club that can attract the best players, including Harry Kane.
In fact, Liverpool's momentum could actually help Manchester United’s cause if they can oust Tottenham from fourth place and clinch the last Champions League spot. Klopp’s men actually sit fifth, 3 points adrift of Tottenham’s fourth with a game in hand.
Harry Kane is a proven PL goalscorer |
Harry Kane fits the striker profile that appeals to Erik ten Haag’s style, as he can hold up play, has delectable passing range and accuracy to link up other players, is pacy enough, as well as remain lethal in front of goal in the air and on ground.
With new ownership and more transfer funds set to come into Old Trafford before the end of the season, United will be in pole position to land Harry Kane.
